About Kallara

Kallara Conference & Retreat Centre is a peaceful, fully equipped venue nestled in the foothills of Taungurung Country, just 2 hours north of Melbourne.

It’s a place where people come to connect; with each other, with country and with purpose.

Set against native bushland with farmland stretching in every direction, Kallara offers something rare: a natural setting with modern, high-quality facilities.

Unique wildlife, scenic walking tracks and open sky surround you from the moment you arrive.

Kallara is run by Dardi Munwurro, an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation guided by the values of healing, respect, determination and integrity.

Every booking you make supports meaningful programs that strengthen families and communities across Victoria.

Your Stay Supports Our Healing Programs

Dardi Munwurro (Strong Spirit) is a specialist Aboriginal family violence service. Our vision is to build stronger families and safer communities through culturally respectful support and practical action.

We aim to empower and inspire individuals and families to heal the past, acknowledge the present and create a positive, hopeful vision for the future.

We achieve this by delivering a broad range of family violence programs and culturally informed services, practical interventions and community-led initiatives designed to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma in Aboriginal families and communities.

Dardi Munwurro was established in 2000 to provide group leadership training programs specifically tailored to Aboriginal men and youth.

Our programs are carefully designed to help Aboriginal men and young people recognise and name their emotions and personal strengths, and through that process, come to understand and accept their own responsibility for their actions and choices.

We support participants to articulate a clear sense of purpose and to develop a practical, hopeful vision for their future, grounded in cultural pride and personal accountability.
